Homemaker Personal Care (HPC) helps individuals with daily activities like bathing, dressing, meal prep, and taking medication, all within the comfort of their own home. The goal is to support independence while keeping people safe and well cared for.
HPC Transportation includes rides to medical appointments, community outings, or day programs as part of a person’s care. It helps individuals stay connected, active, and able to attend important appointments and activities.
Shared Living is when a person with a developmental disability lives in the home of a caregiver who provides ongoing support as part of daily life. It’s a family-style setup that focuses on stability, comfort, and close, trusting relationships.
In Ohio, most of the services provided to individuals are funded through Medicaid waivers, which are special programs that help individuals with developmental disabilities get the support they need without having to pay out of pocket.
The Self Waiver is designed for individuals with developmental disabilities who live independently or with family and prefer to direct their own care. It offers a flexible approach by allowing individuals and their families to choose and manage many of their services and providers.
The Level One Waiver provides essential services and supports for individuals with developmental disabilities who have fewer in-home care needs. It is ideal for people who live with family or on their own but only need a limited amount of paid support.
The Individual Options Waiver—often called the IO Waiver—is a more comprehensive Medicaid waiver for individuals with developmental disabilities. It’s designed for people who require a higher level of support at home and may benefit from a wide range of services.
If you or a loved one doesn’t currently have a waiver but are interested in receiving services, we’re here to help.
